A Boat Trip to Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting)

About two hours by boat from Luang Prabang along the Mekong River up to the north, Pak Ou Caves or Tham Ting Caves are located on the left bank of the Mekong and the mouth of the Nam-Ou. There are two caves in the lower part of a limestone cliff
facing the river.

The lower cave, known as Tham Ting, is a well known Buddhist site and a place of pilgrimage, with thousands of statues and statuettes, in the traditional Luang Prabang style. It is entered from the river by a series of steps. Admission fee 20,000 kips.

Stairs connected a second, deeper cave known as Tham Phum, which requires a flashlight for viewing inside the cave.

I took a slow boat to there. But if you would love to try something in challenge, you may take a speed boat, a quicker boat, which is risky and more suited to the Indiana Jones type!
