At the same trip I visited to Prasat Preah Vihear, I also went to see the Phnom Rung Historical Park in Buri Ram, Thailand.
Built as a hindu sanctuary for the God Siva, Prasart Hin Phnom Rung is contemporaneous with the Cambodia’s famous Angkor Wat. It is built of sandstone and laterite. A highlight of the site seems to be the Vishnu Anantasayin at the east lintel. The celebrated lintel disappeared from the location and reappeared in America in the early 1960s. It was returned and reinstalled in 1988.
